Disasters. From Hurricane Katrina to the Asian earthquake to the forest fires that devastated southern California, we've experienced a raft of them in recent times.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness, training them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can then assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
Falgoon Desai has completed the CERT training offered by the Foster City Fire Department and volunteered in local CERT activities, including training other CERT members. Falgoon is actively involved in his neighborhood CERT team for emergency preparedness. He'll be a good man to have around when the next disaster strikes.
