Keeping the Homeless Warm In Winter

The Red Cross is synonymous with disaster relief. From earthquakes to hurricanes to floods, volunteers from the American Red Cross have been helping people prepare for, avert and recover from acts of nature and man for more than a century.

People who are homeless have the greatest need for basic provisions. As part of Accretive Solutions' 2007 Holiday Celebration, the Detroit staff collected and donated new blankets and bags of trial-size toiletry items to the American Red Cross "Blanket Days for the Homeless".

Through generous efforts, they were able to collect 100 new blankets and more than 350 travel-size personal hygiene items, which were donated to homeless persons, victims of local disasters, domestic abuse victims and teen runaways at nearly 100 American Red Cross shelters in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
