Hands Across the Water: AS Supports the Navy

To walk a mile in someone else's shoes—or sail a knot on their ship—means to gain a true understanding of what their world is like. The AS Detroit team did just that when we visited the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), a nuclear powered aircraft carrier known as "America's Big Stick," to discover what a day in the in life of a US Navy sailor is really like.

Employees were flown out to the ship for an arrested landing and launched with a catapult shot off the flight deck. In order to make a meaningful contribution, we collected care packages to hand out to the sailors on TR and at NAS Oceana and NS Norfolk. Items ranged from elementary school notes and sweatshirts from local high schools to Girl Scout cookies, gift cards and professional sports team merchandise.

Most importantly, Accretive Solutions employees got to shake hands and say thanks to the men and women who keep our country safe. The experience provided a terrific opportunity to let sailors know people in the heartland appreciate their sacrifice and dedication!
