Not too long ago, polio was a major childhood health threat, killing or paralyzing many thousands of people. The March of Dimes, founded in 1938 as the "National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis", became an annual fundraising event to help find a cure for the disease. When the Salk vaccine was developed in 1955, the March of Dimes refocused its mission on the prevention of premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.
Enter Accretive Solutions. In April 2007, wearing bright red AS baseball caps, the Detroit staff participated in the March for Babies, a yearly walkathon sponsored by the March of Dimes. Their goal: to raise $1000 to support pediatric research, education and advocacy.
We exceeded our expectations. Through a combination of fundraising promotions and the contributions collected by individual walkers, the team raised not $1000, but more than $3000 for the March for Babies. Walk on!
